Perodua Axia Alternatives

Perodua Axia vs Perodua Myvi

The Perodua Axia doesn’t really have a direct competitor as it’s the only A-segment hatchback currently sold in Malaysia. Compared to a B-segment hatchback like the Perodua Myvi, the Axia is smaller, more affordable, and more fuel-efficient. The Perodua Axia sips fuel with a 27.4 km/ L fuel consumption compared to the Myvi’s 22 km/ L. Compared to the Axia, the Myvi has a 1.5 L four-cylinder engine producing more power at 103 PS and 136 Nm.

However, the Myvi has slightly more boot space at 277 L versus the Axia’s 265 L, and it has a multi-seating layout that allows you to carry items of different shapes and sizes. In terms of safety, they are almost evenly matched except for the fact that the Axia X and SE only has two airbags while the Myvi has four airbags on the X variant and six airbags on the H and AV variant.

Perodua Axia vs Proton Iriz

The Proton Iriz has a larger engine than the Perodua Axia with two options; a 1.3 L engine producing 95 PS and 120 Nm, and a 1.6 L engine producing 109 PS and 150 Nm. While the Iriz is larger than the Axia, it has a smaller boot at 215 L. That said, its cabin space and ride quality is better than the Axia.

In terms of safety, the Proton Iriz has four airbags on the 1.3 Standard, and six airbags on the 1.6 Executive and 1.6 Active variant which is more reassuring. However, the range-topping Axia AV has driver assistance features such as pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, and other features that the Iriz lacks.
