Kia & Cerato Edit
The Kia Cerato is a C-segment sedan launched in Malaysia in 2013 to replace the Kia Forte. Although Kia has developed a new Kia Cerato in 2021, it is not available in the Malaysian market, which means that Malaysian buyers who want a Cerato can only get a used previous-generation unit.
Kia Cerato Variants
In Malaysia, the Kia Cerato is available in two variants. They are the Kia Cerato YD 1.6 and YD 2.0.
Kia Cerato Pricing
Pricing for a new Kia Cerato in Malaysia started from RM99,888 for the YD 1.6 variant and RM 118,888 for the YD 2.0 variant. Now, buyers can get a pre-owned Cerato ranging from RM40,000 to RM80,000 depending on the year and condition of the car.
Colors Available
The Kia Cerato is available in three colors. They are Temptation Red, Clear White, and Glittering Metal.
Interior
The interior of the Kia Cerato has a spacious and practical layout while exuding quality. It has a 10-way power-adjustable seat for the driver with two memory settings, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, four cupholders, as well as a multi-function steering wheel with audio, cruise control, and Bluetooth controls.
Exterior
On the exterior, the Kia Cerato has halogen projector headlamps, daytime running lights (DRLs), front foglamps, LED combination taillamps, and chrome accents.
Cabin Space
The Kia Cerato measures 4,560 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and 1,445 mm tall. It has a 502-liter boot which is on par with competitors in the segment.
Infotainment system
The infotainment on the Kia Cerato is handled by a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen with AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, two USB charging ports, and navigation. Music is pumped into the cabin via six speakers.
The Kia Cerato YD 1.6 is powered by a 1.6-liter Gamma II MPI engine with Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing that produces 130 PS of power and 157 Nm of torque. It also has a fuel consumption of 6.8 L/100 km.
On the other hand, the Cerato YD 2.0 has a 2.0-liter Nu MPI engine that produces 161 PS of power and 194 Nm of torque which a fuel consumption of 7.0 L/100 km. Both variants have a 6-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels.
Kia has not given the Cerato major updates in Malaysia so it has limited safety features compared to its competitors. It has six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), ISOFIX tether, security alarm with immobilizer, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, and a reverse camera.
For its price on the secondary market, the Kia Cerato makes for a good C-segment sedan. It has a stylish European look, along with a practical and comfortable interior. Also, it is one of the more unique C-segment cars in the market, so for buyers who are looking to stand out, the Kia Cerato is a good choice.
